4 Simple Dog Biscuit Recipes

Dogs love their treats, no question about it. Show your dog some extra special love with these easy to bake and delicious homemade dog biscuit recipes. The recipes below make approximately 75 small (1″) biscuits or 50 medium biscuits.

Milk Bone Dog Biscuits

¾ cup hot water
1/3 cup margarine
½ cup powdered milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
3 cups whole wheat flour

This recipe makes a basic milk bone style treat. In large bowl, simply pour hot water over the margarine, then stir in powdered milk, salt and egg. Add flour, a little bit at a time until fully stirred in. Knead for a few minutes to form a stiff dough, then roll it out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into bone shapes, preferably using a bone shaped cookie cutter. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes,and then allow to cool before serving. These biscuits will dry quite hard and crunchy.

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

1 cup of water
½ cup of oil
2 eggs
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
½ cup of cornmeal
½ cup of oats

This recipe will make your basic peanut butter dog biscuit treats. Start off by blending the wet ingredients together. Whisk the dry ingredients together, then mix into the wet mixture to form a ball of dough. Roll it out into 1/2 inch sheet, and cut out shapes using a cookie cutter. Use a lightly greased cookie tray and cook for approx 20 minutes at 400 F. Cool the cookies until they turn crisp then serve. Peanut butter is a canine favorite.

Pumpkin Pie Dog Biscuits

These biscuits are a healthy everyday treat, and great for a dog with minor digestion issues. The Brown rice flour gives the biscuits crunch and promotes better dog digestion.

2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin (or freshly cooked)
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups brown rice flour

Preheat oven to 350F / 180C.

In large bowl, whisk together eggs and pumpkin, then stir in the dry milk, sea salt. Add brown rice flour gradually, to form a stiff, dry dough. 

Roll the dough to 1/2″, then use a cookie cutter to shape the cookies. Place cookies on cookie sheet, and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, carefully turn biscuits over, then bake for an additional 20 minutes. Allow to cool and serve.


Vegetarian Dog Biscuits

2 ½ cups flour
¼ cup dry milk powder
½ cup vegetable oil
2 tbs. brown sugar
2 vegetable bouillon cubes
¾ cup boiling water
1 egg

Preheat oven to 300 F. Dissolve bouillon cubes in the boiling water, then mix all ingredients into a ball . Roll the dough to about ¼” thick, then cut with a cookie cutter. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes, cool and serve.
